Kukicha (茎茶) is a mixture of dark green sencha leaves and yellow stems. The liquor is of pale yellow-green colour with a toasted grassy fragrance and has a smooth and balanced taste with toasty and grassy flavour. The stems are known to have higher sugar content and for this reason, the tea has a naturally sweet finish with low astringency.
Use 1-2g of Kukicha in 300ml at 70°C for 1-2 minutes. You can also enjoy Kukicha as a cold brew in the summer! Use 5-7g in 1 l cold water and leave overnight in the fridge, then enjoy the next day.
